The Beautiful American Abroad
by Scott D. Gerber | 45 Tul. L. Rev. 807 (2011)
George Athan Billias’s American Constitutionalism Heard Round the World is an academic book about the influence of American ideals, ideas, and institutions on different peoples at different times in different lands. His book is a masterpiece of historical scholarship. Mary L. Dudziak’s Exporting American Dreams is a trade book about one of the greatest civil rights leaders in American history – Thurgood Marshall – and his attempt to help found a new African nation. Her book is a commendable example of how legal scholars can try to engage a popular audience. (full article)
